This webinar, featuring Dr. Nora Volkow, MusiCares, and Behind the Scenes, will focus on the issues that the music industry is facing regarding addiction, recovery, and harm reduction. While the webinar will examine these issues through the lens of the music industry, the discussion will cover several universal themes of interest to a broader audience.

Dr. Nora Volkow will kick off the hour-long conversation with a statement about the value of conversations like this one, speaking with leaders in the music industry who provide services to their constituents and talking about some of the challenges specific to their audiences, including:

  1. Maintaining recovery while away from home/support systems.
  2. Naloxone training/access to naloxone while on tour.
  3. The connection between mental health/stress and substance use.
  4. The role of stigma in preventing people from seeking help.
  5. Training for employers to support an employee who needs help.
  6. How to support caregivers.

MusiCares and Behind the Scenes have created resources to help their constituencies address these issues. We will highlight those resources and resources from NIDA and other reliable sources in the accompanying materials.
