An authority on body dysmorphic disorder, male eating disorders and addiction(including steroids), Brian Cuban is the author of the best-selling book,Shattered Image: My Triumph Over Body Dysmorphic Disorder. It chronicles his first-hand experiences living with, and recovering from, twenty-seven years of eating disorders, alcoholism, drug addiction and Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD). Cuban has appeared on prestigious talks shows such as the Katie Couric Show as well as numerous media outlets around the country. He also writes extensively on these subjects.

Susan E. Foster is Executive Director of The American Board of Addiction Medicine (ABAM) Foundation’s National Center for Physician Training in Addiction Medicine. She has been responsible for a wide range of national studies on risky substance use and addiction and for developing collaborations, tools and practice guides to translate research results into health care practice, public policy and public understanding of the disease. Susan has held policy and management positions in the non-profit sector and in federal, state and local government, and was founder and partner of a public policy consulting firm providing services to the nation’s governors. Serving as a spokesperson on addiction prevention and treatment, she has appeared in a wide range of media venues, presented to national, regional, state and international groups, testified before federal and state legislative bodies, and consulted with representatives of other countries about addiction policy.

Beck is originally from Los Angeles, CA. Beck completed undergraduate work in the field of Sociology with a focus on Gender, Sexuality, and Addiction from Montana State University in Bozeman, Montana. Beck's undergraduate thesis was a study on addiction in LGBTQ rural communities. Beck’s master’s degree is in Addiction Studies from Hazelden. Beck received an Excellence in Writing Award from Hazelden graduate program; the paper focused on training addiction counselors to give better treatment to LGBTQ clients. Beck has facilitated trainings and given lectures around the country at conferences, to prisons, to schools, to treatment centers and everywhere in between focusing on LGBTQ communities and addiction. Beck is very passionate about the Transgender community and the effects of addiction, trauma and stigma within the Trans populations. Beck continues to train clinicians and facility staff on LGBTQ issues, help facilities establish LGBT inclusive policies, and provide program development for facilities that want to expand their services to LGBTQ populations. Beck is currently the Northeast Professional Outreach Representative for The Refuge- A Healing Place in Florida.

Patrick R. Krill is director of the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation Legal Professionals Program. In this role, he helps attorneys, judges and law students prepare for and overcome the distinctive challenges they face in recovery from chemical dependency. As a licensed attorney, board certified alcohol and drug counselor and graduate level instructor in addiction counseling, Patrick brings a unique breadth of knowledge and perspective to the subject of behavioral health in the legal profession. He regularly provides print and broadcast interviews and is a frequent author and speaker on the subject of addiction and its intersection with the law, including his regular blog for the Huffington Post. His writing has also been featured in Salon, CNN.com, Counselor Magazine and multiple publications of the ABA.

The foundation works to provide recovery support and resources to people and families affected by addiction as well as attempting to change the conversations and policies around addiction. Ginny is certified as a Master Revive Trainer through the Virginia Dep
artment of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services. She conducts Training of Trainer events where lay persons are taught not just how to administer naloxone, but how to become Revive Trainers themselves and hold their own classes. Some Master trainers can also train law enforcement and EMTs.
Mark Parrino, M.P.A
President of American Association for the Treatment of
Opioid Dependence (AATOD)
Mr. Parrino has been involved in the delivery of health care and substance abuse treatment since 1974. He received both a Baccalaureate in Psychology (1974) and a Masters in Health Policy, Planning and Administration (1982) from New York University
Mr. Parrino served as the Director of the Gramercy Park Medical Group, an outpatient methadone treatment program, from 1980 to 1994. He also served as President of the National Development and Research Institutes, Inc. (NDRI) and was the Chair of New York City's Health Systems Agency's Technical Advisory Group on Substance Abuse.
Mr. Parrino served as the Chair of the Center for Substance Abuse Treatment (CSAT) Consensus Panel for State Methadone Treatment Guidelines, the first Treatment Improvement Protocol (TIP) published for national distribution. Currently, Mr. Parrino is the President of the American Association for the Treatment of Opioid Dependence and continues to be responsible for the development and implementation of the Association's organizing initiatives. He is a consultant and educator to government, community and business groups concerning substance abuse treatment and policy. Mr. Parrino is a recipient of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Innovators Award for 2003.
Dr. Dave Milzman
Dave Milzman, MD, serves as Research Director, Department of Emergency Medicine at MedStar Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C., and as an Attending Physician, Emergency Medicine, at MedStar Washington Hospital Center and Children's National Medical Center in Washington.
Dr. Milzman's investigative work focuses on clinical research into sepsis, shock, traumatic injury, and injury prevention. His additional research interests include clinical outcomes, particularly non-ST elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI), acute congestive heart failure, acute surgical emergencies, and sports concussive injuries. In this latter role, he serves as Director of Medical Research for the MedStar Sports Medicine Concussion Program.
Among his professional affiliations, Dr. Milzman is a member of the American College of Emergency Medicine, the Society of Critical Care Medicine, the Society for Academic Emergency Physicians, and the American Association for the Surgery of Trauma. He has published many articles and chapters in the medical literature and has appeared in numerous media venues as an expert on urban emergency medicine, gun violence, and improved care delivery in the emergency department setting.
A graduate of the University of Maryland, College Park, Dr. Milzman received his medical degree from Georgetown University Medical School, completed his combined residency in Emergency and Internal Medicine at Eastern Virginia Graduate School of Medicine in Norfolk, and completed two fellowships in Critical Care and Trauma Research at the University of Maryland R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore.

Tim Rabolt is a graduate student at The George Washington University (GWU) in the School of Education and Human Development. While attending GWU for his undergraduate degree, he founded GW Students for Recovery, the District’s first collegiate recovery program. He’s worked for Unite to Face Addiction, was a founding member of the DC Chapter of Young People in Recovery, and spent 6 months interning for the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy. Tim was born in Palo Alto, CA but was raised in Wilmington, DE before moving down to DC for his studies. He’s a passionate Philly sports fan, enjoys traveling the country, and recently started blogging for The Huffington Post.
GW Students for Recovery (SFR) is an on-campus student organization at The George Washington University that supports and advocates for students in or seeking recovery from mental illness and addiction. Since its founding in February 2012, the organization has helped over 100 students through their weekly recovery meetings, held in the GW Serenity Shack.
The mission of the Association of Recovery in Higher Education (ARHE) is to change the trajectory of recovering students’ lives by connecting, developing, and sustaining national collegiate recovery efforts through collaboration, guidance, and expertise. ARHE is the only association exclusively representing collegiate recovery programs, the faculty and staff who support them, and the students who represent them. ARHE offers time-tested, research and experiential-based modeling for fostering and supporting those in recovery who seek to excel in higher education.
Jason Wahler, Actor; Treatment and Recovery Advocate
Jason Wahler will provide perspective from his own journey through recovery. Jason is perhaps best known as a reality show star from "Laguna Beach" and "The Hills". His personal addiction eventually led him to get treatment on "Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew" and his subsequent recovery and transformation to be a recovery advocate. He is also a member of the PRISM Awards Honorary Committee and makes frequent media appearances on behalf of recovery from addiction.
Dior Vargas, Latina Feminist Mental Health Activist [email protected]
Dior Vargas is a Latina Feminist Mental Health Activist. She is the creator of the People of Color and Mental Illness Photo Project, a response to the invisibility of people of color in the media representation of mental illness. She is a volunteer crisis counselor for CrisisTextLine and a co-facilitator for NAMI NYC Metro's Young Adult Support Group. Dior is the recipient of numerous awards, The White House Champion of Change for Disability Advocacy Across Generations, a Voices of the Year honoree under the Impact category at #BlogHer15: Experts among Us Conference, 2015 Alternatives Conference Cookie Gant and Bill Compton LGBTQI Leadership Award. She has a B.A. in the Study of Women and Gender from Smith College and a M.S. in Publishing from Pace University. She lives in New York City.
Karen DiConcetto Executive Producer of “Recovery Road” Karen started her career as a performer, and was half of the UK pop duo DAPHNE AND CELESTE as a teenager. They had three Top Twenty singles and their song, "U.G.L.Y." was featured on the BRING IT ON soundtrack. Although the group disbanded 15 years ago, this past March (2015) marked their triumphant return to the music scene with their catchy single, "You and I Alone." As an actor, Karen's credits include the musical parody JERSEY SHORESICAL (Bleecker Street Theater), Bert V. Royal’s DOG SEES GOD (NY Fringe Festival/Off-Broadway at the Century Center) and THE HOUSE IS BURNING (prod. Wim Wenders/Martin Scorsese, premiered Cannes ’06.) In 2007, she co-wrote and co-starred in the political satire I DIG DOUG at the NY Fringe Festival, under the direction of Bert V. Royal. It won “Best Play” and went onto an off-Broadway extension. In addition to writing on ABC Family's RUBY AND THE ROCKITS, Karen has also written two pilots with Bert V. Royal, AN OPEN APOLOGY TO ALL MY EX-GIRLFIRENDS with Skydance and RECOVERY ROAD for ABC Family. Karen currently serves as an Executive Producer for RECOVERY ROAD.
